FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW, the New Era University College of Medicine (NEU-CMD) achieved a 100% passing rate in the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE). The new physicians from NEU-CMD who hurdled the exam in March 2021 are Ronald S. Adame, Arphaxad M. Caňada, Aaron Radjae B. Del Rosario, Chelzza Marie S. Del Rosario, Adrian James G. Mendoza, and Nicola Tierra Mondragon.
The licensure exam pushed through despite the pandemic as the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recognizes the urgent need for physicians during these times of public health emergency. The PRC closely monitored the implementation of the health and safety protocols during the face-to-face examination, which was conducted on March 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2021, in different sites in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.
Since its inception in 2014, the NEU-CMD has been ensuring a strict admission process and high quality of instruction, according to Dr. Genesis C. Rivera, present dean of the college. But more than the academic aspect of medical studies, Dr. Rivera emphasizes the humanistic side of the profession. “For the time that students go to the first year, they were exposed in the community and introduced to innovative programs for medical humanities. This is to produce doctors with compassion, empathy, and more humane to patients and people,” he said.
